Enoch’s Summer Camp / VBS 2024
Please join us for a Family Fun Fair on Saturday, June 15 from 4pm to 8pm. This is a time for you and your whole family – come on out, bring Grandpa and Grandma if you like, have a hot dog, play a game, visit with neighbors, make new friends, and just have a nice time with your family. This event immediately precedes our Vacation Bible School week which we call Enoch’s Summer Camp, and so it also gives you an opportunity to meet some of the leaders of the VBS week and ask any questions you might have.
Monday, June 17th will kick off Vacation Bible School. VBS is best friends with our weekly Enoch’s Club on Friday evenings, but for this special week (June 17 – 21) the children get to come out each evening Monday through Friday from 6:30 to 8:30pm. What’s it like, you wonder? We start with a time of outside games, then go inside for a time of singing, a Bible lesson, and a memory verse from the Bible. Downstairs there’s a craft time and a snack, maybe a little skit or a story too! Here’s a three-minute slideshow that will give you an idea what it looks like:
In a world where many things are up-side down, our goal is to create a week that’s right-side up for your children – a week to have fun, to make friends, and to learn what a right-side up world looks like. In a right-side up world we learn from the Bible about our Creator, the difference between right and wrong, and how to escape the fear of death and have a sure hope for eternity – the promise of heaven. The theme this year is “God’s Rescue Mission” – the story of how God set out to rescue us from sin and the devil and make us His own if we are willing accept His salvation.
Issac Taylor is heading up the VBS this year. Isaac and his family make their home here in Grand Rapids, and are a regular part of our Friday evening Enoch’s Club. Issac’s love for the Lord, his love for children, and his talent in working with children make him just right for this role.
These are big ideas for little people, and in a right-side up world that means that we should enjoy some of the good things God has given us – legs to play games, fingers to do crafts, tongues to enjoy snacks, and minds to know God and hearts to love Him – because He first loved us.
